This photograph, taken in January 1914, depicts an extraordinary event hosted by the Hendon Aviators at the prestigious Royal Automobile Club. The occasion was an upside-down dinner, a unique and daring entertainment experience for the time. The guests of honor for this unconventional meal were Bentfield Hucks and Gustav Hamel, both notable figures in the early days of aviation. Standing to the left of the table, in the midst of the inverted scene, are Bentfield Hucks and Gustav Hamel, both dressed elegantly for the occasion. Hucks, a British aviator and engineer, had set several altitude records in balloons and airplanes. Hamel, a French aviator, was the first person to fly an airplane over the Alps and held numerous aviation records.
