EDITORS COMMENTS
In the heart of Scottish football history lies this thrilling moment captured on March 16, 2003, as Rangers Football Club triumphed over their arch-rivals Celtic with a 2-1 victory. The Old Firm Derby, a fixture as traditional as haggis and whisky, saw Rangers' Fernando Ricksen and Peter Lovenkrands lead the charge against Celtic's formidable defense. Ricksen, the Dutch international, displayed an impressive performance throughout the match, leaving Celtic's defenders in his wake with his agility and skill. Lovenkrands, a Danish striker, capitalized on Ricksen's efforts, scoring the opening goal in the 35th minute with a powerful header. The second half saw Celtic pressuring Rangers' goal, with Barry Ferguson putting in a heroic performance in midfield to keep the visitors at bay. Celtic's persistence paid off when Henrik Larsson equalized in the 72nd minute, setting the stage for a nail-biting finish. However, Rangers refused to be outdone. In the 89th minute, Lovenkrands struck again, securing the victory for his team with a clinical finish. The Ibrox Stadium erupted in jubilation as Rangers clinched a hard-fought win against their oldest and most bitter rivals. This photograph captures the raw emotion and intensity of the Old Firm Derby, with Ricksen and Lovenkrands at the forefront of Rangers' triumph. The image serves as a testament to the passion and determination that defines Scottish football and the Old Firm Derby.
