EDITORS COMMENTS
Great print of Stan Cullis, the legendary manager of Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Club during the 1940s and 1960s. Cullis is considered one of the greatest figures in the history of Wolves, leading the team to unprecedented success and establishing a winning culture that lasted for decades. Born in Wolverhampton in 1911, Cullis started his career as a player for Wolves in 1931, making his debut at the age of just 18. He went on to make over 300 appearances for the club and scored 37 goals. After retiring as a player in 1947, Cullis took over as manager, replacing the legendary Billy Wright. Under Cullis, Wolves became a dominant force in English football. In the late 1940s and early 1950s, they won three successive League titles, the FA Cup in 1949, and reached the European Cup Winners' Cup final in 1959. Cullis's teams were known for their disciplined and tactically astute play, as well as their strong team spirit and work ethic. The print captures Cullis in his element, with a determined look in his eyes and a confident posture. He is dressed in a smart suit and tie, with a Wolves scarf draped around his neck. The background shows the crowded terraces of a football stadium, filled with passionate fans cheering on their team. Cullis's tenure as manager came to an end in 1962, but his legacy lived on. He is still fondly remembered by Wolves fans as the man who put the club on the map and set the standard for future generations. This print is a fitting tribute to a true footballing legend.
