Coelophysis was a small carnivorous dinosaur of the Late Triassic (Chinle Formation). A Coelophysis mass mortality site was discovered at Ghost Ranch, near Abiquiu, New Mexico in 1947. The centerpiece of the Ghost Ranch Museum is an 8-ton bloc of matrix transported from the quarry.
