The murmur of half a dozen different languages - the boats landing with ammunition and stores - the hundreds of arabas drawn by camels and oxen wending their slow way to the trenches - the galloping to and fro of officers and orderlies, and too often, too, the slow tread of solders bearing to the hospital another sick or wounded comrade - form a striking spectacle'.
