The first Lambeth Bridge was a suspension bridge which opened in 1862, however problems with its safety and structure resulted in the bridge being closed to vehicular traffic in 1910. The bridge was demolished in the late 1920s and was subsequently replaced in 1932

In order to ensure public safety, it was eventually demolished during the late 1920s. Fortunately for admirers of this architectural gem, a new Lambeth Bridge emerged from the ashes and took its place in 1932.
