St Georges Hospital, Blackshaw Road, Tooting, Wandsworth, Greater London. The exterior of the newly completed St James Wing at St Georges Hospital, Tooting, looking north and showing the entrance to the Accident & Emergency Department.
The Accident & Emergency Department opened in December 1988 just a week before a rail crash near Clapham on the 12th. Casualties from the accident were treated at the new facility, and some Laing staff present on site finishing post contract work lent a hand as porters for the sudden influx of injured people.
