The foundry opened in 1957 and cost £ 7.5 million to build. The building was a two-storey reinforced concrete structure, almost a quarter of a mile in length. The new facilities included kitchens and a canteen, toilet accommodation, a medical centre and a compressor house. There was also an ancillary building, 700 ft in length, roads to the site, a settling tank and ponds. It later closed in 1984

This print captures the impressive construction of the Thames Foundry at the Ford Motor Company Works in Dagenham, Greater London. Built in 1957 at a staggering cost of £7.5 million, this two-storey reinforced concrete foundry spanned almost a quarter mile in length. It was not just a simple factory; it boasted modern amenities such as kitchens, a canteen, toilet facilities, a medical center, and even a compressor house. Additionally, an ancillary building measuring 700 feet in length was constructed alongside roads leading to the site.
