The image showcases the gymnasium from a southern perspective after undergoing an impressive redevelopment that involved demolishing the terrace in front of the building. Originally constructed between 1864-65 by Edward Gruning for the German Gymnastic Society, this Grade II Listed structure was accessed through a door located at 22-30 Pancras Road. The photo highlights not only architectural beauty but also represents a symbol of sport and recreation within an urban setting. Its Victorian charm is restored and renovated to perfection, emanating a sense of cleanliness and freshness with its vibrant blue hues. Through this remarkable image captured by s imon Inglis on behalf of Historic England, viewers are transported back in time while witnessing how historic buildings can seamlessly integrate into contemporary landscapes.
