At Wembley Stadium, the Queen, with the Duke of Edinburgh and FA Secretary Sir Stanley Rous either side of her, presents a Cup-winners medal to Stanley Matthews of Blackpool, following their 4-3 victory over Bolton Wanderers. The final became known as The Matthews final after his superb play that afternoon on the right wing.
