This hand-coloured aquatint engraving captures the grandeur of the coronation parade for Queen Victoria, held on June 28, 1838. At the heart of the procession is the carriage of Prince Wilhelm Malte I, Count Carl August von Alten, Ambassador Extraordinary to the King of Prussia, Frederick William III. The Prince of Putbus, as he was also known, is depicted in regal attire, seated elegantly within the ornate carriage. The panoramic view of the state procession showcases the pomp and ceremony of the occasion, with a multitude of aristocrats and dignitaries following in splendid carriages and on horseback. Queen Victoria, resplendent in her coronation robes, rides at the head of the procession, surrounded by her courtiers and guards.
