This stunning oil on canvas painting, titled "Pieta" by the renowned Spanish Baroque artist Jusepe de Ribera, was created in 1637. The artwork is a masterpiece of the Baroque period and is currently housed in the Carthusian Monastery of San Martino in Naples, Italy. Ribera, born in 1588, was known for his naturalistic and dramatic style, which is evident in this poignant depiction of the Virgin Mary cradling the dead body of Jesus Christ.
