The revolution, also known as the Sexennium Revolution, was a pivotal moment in Spanish history as it led to the overthrow of Queen Isabella II and the establishment of the First Spanish Republic. The Battle of Alcolea, fought on September 20, 1868, took place in the province of Ciudad Real, in central Spain. The image presents a general view of the battlefield, with the lines of the opposing forces still visible. The revolutionary army, dressed in blue uniforms, is positioned on the right side of the frame, while the royalist army, wearing white uniforms, is seen on the left.
