This photograph captures a historic moment in Chinese political history, as revolutionary leader Sun Yat-Sen (1866-1925) is seen in the company of two of his most trusted colleagues, Tang Shaoyi (1863-1938) and Wu Tingfang (1842-1922). The image, taken in 1926, finds Sun Yat-Sen in the twilight of his career, having played a pivotal role in the overthrow of the Qing Dynasty and the establishment of the Republic of China in 1912. Tang Shaoyi, a prominent politician and former premier of the Republic, stands to Sun Yat-Sen's left.
