Airship over Manhattan, New York City, New York, USA, in 1933. This is the USS Macon (ZRS-5), a helium-filled rigid airship built in the USA by the Goodyear-Zeppelin Corporation. It served as a flying aircraft carrier for F9C Sparrowhawk fighter planes. The Macon was launched on 21st April 1933 and served for less than two years before crashing during a storm off the Big Sur coast, California, on 12th February 1935
