EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases the serene beauty of green turtles resting on the vibrant seabed. The Green turtle, scientifically known as Chelonia mydas, is a magnificent creature found in warm tropical waters. With its herbivorous diet consisting of algae and sea grasses, this gentle giant can grow up to 1.5 meters long and weigh an astonishing 300 kilograms. During the breeding season, these remarkable turtles embark on migratory journeys spanning thousands of miles to return to their hatching site. Here, the female lays up to 200 eggs at a time, ensuring the continuation of their species. However, despite their incredible resilience and longevity, green sea turtles face numerous threats that have led them towards endangerment. Predators such as sharks and humans pose significant risks to these majestic creatures' survival. As we admire this photograph taken off Sipadan Island in Malaysia's Celebes Sea, it serves as a reminder of our responsibility to protect and conserve marine life. The image captures not only the harmonious coexistence between nature's elements but also highlights the delicate balance required for these enchanting reptiles' existence underwater. Let us appreciate this duo peacefully nestled among rocks on the sea floor while acknowledging that urgent action is needed to ensure future generations can witness such awe-inspiring scenes firsthand.
