In the enchanting Sheffield Park Garden, the Middle Lake is adorned with a breathtaking frame of scarlet Acer leaves, signaling the arrival of autumn. The vibrant hues of these majestic trees create a picturesque scene that captivates all who visit. As if in harmony with nature's palette, the Eurasian golden oriole, Oriolus oriolus, adds its melodious song to this symphony of colors. Illustrations showcase the beauty and diversity trees. From the Crimson King Norway Maple to the Golden Full Moon Maple (Acer platanoides and Acer shirasawanum Aureum respectively), their unique shapes are highlighted both with and without leaves. These illustrations transport us to Gloucestershire, England where a captivating canopy trees displays their magnificent fall foliage. Further across Europe in Westonbirt, Gloucestershire, Japanese Maples paint an awe-inspiring landscape in shades of autumnal splendor. In West Bolton, Quebec, Canada maple trees stand tall alongside pine trees as they too embrace the season's transformation. Even hybrid Poplar tree plantations near Irrigon reveal their own autumnal charm amidst vast fields. Meanwhile at Sycamore Gap along Hadrian's Wall stands a remarkable Sycamore (Acer pseudoplatanus) showcasing its grandeur against ancient ruins. Traveling south to Provence in France brings us face-to-face with an Italian maple (Acer opalus) radiating stunning autumn colors within Barronies Regional Nature Park during October's embrace. Nature never ceases to amaze; even on dead Field maple twigs we find life thriving as variable oysterlings (Crepidotus variabilis) make themselves at home. And it is not just flora but fauna that finds solace amongst these beautiful maples - a red-winged blackbird male sings his heart out from atop snow-covered red maples creating an unforgettable winter scene.
