"From Jeeves and Wooster to A Christmas Carol: Armchairs Through Time" Step into the world of comfort and elegance with armchairs that have witnessed history unfold. In 1922, as Jeeves and Wooster entertained us with their witty banter, an armchair became a silent witness to their escapades. The Letter, a masterpiece by Rex Whistler in the 20th century, captured the essence of relaxation in an armchair while immersing oneself in literature. Meanwhile, John Leech's depiction of A Christmas Carol in 1843 showcased Ebenezer Scrooge finding solace and redemption seated on his trusty armchair. Cecil Aldin's This Weeks Woggles. XV - Affection portrayed the warmth shared between man and dog as they cozied up on an inviting armchair. And who can resist a Birthday Greetings postcard featuring a family of cats lounging comfortably together at home? In times when household chores demanded patience, an advertisement for the Western Electric vacuum cleaner showed women diligently cleaning around their cherished armchairs. Travel across continents to Tehran's Brilliant Hall at Golestan Palace – designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site – where opulent armchairs adorned with intricate designs welcomed dignitaries from around the globe. Walter Gropius' office in Bauhaus-University Weimar transported us back to 1924 Germany, where innovative ideas were born amidst sleek modernist armchairs. Even William Wilberforce himself found respite from his philanthropic endeavors seated upon an elegant piece. Dombey and Son's cover design brought Charles Dickens' characters to life while showcasing ornate Victorian-era chairs that exuded grandeur. And what better way to celebrate one's birthday than by relaxing in a comfortable chair depicted on a charming birthday card.
