It was here that the signing of Venezuela's declaration of independence took place on July 5th. The skyline of a breathtaking sight to behold, with towering skyscrapers and modern architecture dominating the cityscape. One iconic landmark that graces Caracas' skyline is the Hierro Bridge, an engineering marvel connecting different parts of the city. Another prominent feature is Plaza Bolivar, a bustling square named after Simon Bolivar, one of South America's most influential leaders. It also has its fair share of historical events etched into its fabric. The Preston-Somers expedition against Santiago de Leon de Caracas stands out as a pivotal moment in Venezuelan history. This military campaign played a crucial role in shaping the destiny and freedom of this great nation. The natural beauty surrounding Caracas cannot be overlooked either. Crantzia tigrina and Cobaea penduliflora are just two examples among many stunning plant species found in this region's diverse ecosystem. In more recent times, Caracas faced challenges when confronted by an ultimatum from Anglo-German-Italian forces during World War II. Scenes captured during these tense moments depict both defiance and resilience within this recalcitrant republic. Photographs showcasing disturbances in South America further highlight how Colombia and Venezuela have endured turbulent times together throughout their shared history.
