"Discover the rich history of fishing and fisheries at the West Cornwall Fisheries Exhibition in Penzance, Cornwall. From August 29th to September 9th, 1884, visitors had the opportunity to witness the intricate process of mending nets, a crucial skill for fishermen. Fast forward to July and August 1893, when the Cornwall County Fisheries Exhibition took place in Truro. Here, attendees marveled at various types of fishing boats like the Pilchard seine boat and Pilchard drift boat. These vessels showcased the innovative techniques used by fishermen to catch pilchards during that time. The exhibition also featured tanks filled with live fish species from local waters.
