The humanistic disciplines have long been a source of inspiration and enlightenment for generations. From the captivating melodies composed by Arrigo Boito to the imaginative tales woven by Jules Verne, these artists have left an indelible mark on our cultural landscape. In the late 19th century, Emile Zola emerged as a prominent figure in literature, fearlessly tackling social issues through his works. His words resonated with readers, sparking conversations that challenged societal norms. Looking back even further in history, we find ourselves drawn to the ancient philosophers whose wisdom continues to guide us today. Cicero's eloquent speeches and Diogenes' unorthodox teachings remind us of the importance of critical thinking and self-reflection. Quinto Curzio Rufo's drawings by Raphael transport us to another time, capturing the essence of historical figures such as Seneca. These portraits serve as windows into their lives and philosophies, allowing us to connect with them on a deeper level. And then there is Homer – both a legendary poet and an enigma wrapped in mystery. Whether it be through his epic poems or artistic depictions by Raphael himself, Homer's influence cannot be overstated. His stories continue to captivate audiences worldwide, transcending time and language barriers. In more recent times, literary awards like "Premio Strega" have celebrated contemporary writers who carry on this rich tradition of storytelling. Bucarelli, Contini, and Mafai stand alongside giants like Homer as they contribute their own unique voices to the ever-evolving tapestry of humanistic expression. Lastly but certainly not least is Victor Hugo – a towering figure in French literature whose portrait exudes passion and intensity. Through his novels such as Les Misérables and The Hunchback of Notre-Dame, Hugo explored themes of justice, love, and redemption that still resonate deeply within our souls today.
