Born on March 14, 1820, he became the first king of a unified Italy. His reign marked an era of transformation and progress for the nation. With his determination and strategic alliances, King Victor Emmanuel II played a crucial role in the unification of Italy. Giuseppe Garibaldi's assistance during this process is immortalized in the iconic image of him helping Victor Emmanuel II put on the boot of Italy in 1860. The Battle of Goito and The Battle of Palestro were significant military victories that furthered his cause. These battles showcased King Victor Emmanuel II's leadership skills and commitment to securing Italian independence. In 1878, Raffaele Belliazzi created a bronze statue capturing the essence of King Victor Emmanuel II.
