Louis Haghe was a talented Belgian lithographer who collaborated with Scottish artist David Roberts to create stunning works of art. One such masterpiece is "Petra, " which depicts the ancient city in all its glory. This hand-coloured lithograph, created between 1842 and 1849, captures the intricate details of Petra's Treasury (El Kasne) and transports viewers back to March 1839. Haghe's skill as an engraver is evident in his work titled "The Members of the Institute of Painters in Water-Colours. " This engraving showcases his ability to capture the essence and personalities of each member, highlighting their contributions to the world of art. In another captivating piece called "Panoramic view of Constantinople from the domes, " Haghe demonstrates his mastery over colour lithography. Created in 1852, this artwork provides a breathtaking glimpse into Istanbul's skyline from above. "Jerusalem, " engraved by Louis Haghe in 1843, takes us on a journey through time. The hand-coloured lithograph allows us to witness Jerusalem on April 9th, 1839, capturing its beauty and historical significance for generations to come. Another mesmerizing creation by Haghe is "View of the Bosphorus from the Mosque. " With vibrant colours and meticulous attention to detail, this colour lithograph transports us directly into Istanbul's rich cultural tapestry. "The Treasury - El Khasne" belongs to The Holy Land series and showcases Haghe's talent for capturing architectural marvels like Baalbec. Created between May 7th, 1839, and c. 1842-1849 as a hand-coloured lithograph, it immerses viewers in awe-inspiring structures that have stood for centuries. Hagia Sophia holds immense significance both architecturally and historically; it comes alive through Haghe's colourful lithograph created in Constantinople during 1852. The intricate details and vibrant hues bring this iconic structure to life.
