Louis Haghe was a talented Belgian lithographer who collaborated with Scottish artist David Roberts to create stunning works of art. One such masterpiece is "Petra, " which depicts the ancient city in all its glory. This hand-coloured lithograph, created between 1842 and 1849, captures the intricate details of Petra's Treasury (El Kasne) and transports viewers back to March 1839. Haghe's skill as an engraver is evident in his work titled "The Members of the Institute of Painters in Water-Colours. Hagia Sophia holds immense significance both architecturally and historically; it comes alive through Haghe's colourful lithograph created in Constantinople during 1852. The intricate details and vibrant hues bring this iconic structure to life.
