Manjushri, the divinity of knowledge, holds a significant place in Buddhist culture. This enlightened being is often depicted in various forms across different artworks and manuscripts. One such representation can be found on the title page and front cover of a Buddhist manuscript dating back to the 17th or 18th century. In this captivating painting, Manjushri stands gracefully alongside another deity, exuding wisdom and enlightenment. The artist behind this masterpiece remains unknown but their skillful brushstrokes bring life to these divine figures. Another remarkable portrayal comes from a 19th-century painting made with pigments on silk. Here, his serene expression captivates viewers as he holds profound knowledge within him. The vibrant colors used by the anonymous artist add depth and vibrancy to this timeless artwork. A unique depiction can be seen in a piece titled "Monju Dressed in a Robe of Braided Grass, " created around 1415 by an unknown artist. This intriguing artwork showcases Manjushri adorned in an intricately woven robe symbolizing his connection with nature and wisdom. The buffalo-headed Vajrabhairava also represents a wrathful form of Bodhisattva Manjushri from the 15th century. This fierce manifestation demonstrates that even amidst anger and aggression, wisdom prevails through Manjushri's teachings. A painted banner known as Thangka portrays Bodhisattva Maitreya surrounded by his retinue during the 16th century. Although not solely focused on Manjushri himself, this artwork highlights his significance within Buddhism as one of its revered bodhisattvas. An ancient sculpture dating back to the 9th or 10th century depicts Bodhisattva Manjushri holding a blue lotus flower (Utpala). The creator remains unknown; however, their craftsmanship beautifully captures both grace and wisdom in this delicate artwork.
