From the regal elegance of Louis XIV to the dashing styles of Henry II, men's fashion has evolved through the ages. In 1880, chromolithography captured these iconic looks, showcasing a rich tapestry of sartorial choices. Under Henry IV, men embraced a more relaxed and comfortable attire. Soft boots became all the rage, providing both style and comfort for fashionable gentlemen. Maison Fretin offered an array of options including Ecuyere and Chantilly designs that were favored by trendsetters. The Souvaroff boot was also in vogue during this period. Moving on to Louis XIV's reign, opulence took center stage in men's fashion. Elaborate costumes featuring intricate embroidery and luxurious fabrics were the norm. Maison Fretin catered to those seeking grandeur with their collection of exquisite garments fit for royalty. During Louis XI's era, simplicity reigned supreme in men's fashion. A departure from extravagance led to more understated ensembles characterized by clean lines and muted colors. This shift towards minimalism allowed for greater focus on functionality without compromising style. Fashion under Charles VII saw a return to flamboyance as vibrant hues and elaborate embellishments made a comeback. Men indulged in lavish fabrics such as silk brocades adorned with intricate patterns that reflected their status and taste. Louis XV brought forth an era marked by refinement and sophistication in men's fashion. Intricately embroidered waistcoats paired with breeches became popular choices among gentlemen who sought elegance without sacrificing comfort or practicality. The 1st Empire witnessed a resurgence of military-inspired attire for men. Maison Fretin capitalized on this trend by offering stylish yet sturdy boots that perfectly complemented the overall look - J'y Cours. Their solid construction ensured durability while adding an air of authority to any ensemble. In 1879, fashion took inspiration from various historical periods under the 1st Empire.
