From thrilling steamboat races to historic speeches, this name holds a rich tapestry of stories. In 1870, the Great Mississippi Steamboat Race took place between the Robert E. Lee and the Natchez. The Robert E. Lee emerged victorious after an intense journey from New Orleans to St. Louis, conquering the mighty river in just 3 days, 18 hours, and 14 minutes. The talented artist Nathaniel Currier brings us "The Favorite Cat, " a delightful lithograph that captures feline charm with intricate detail and undeniable appeal. Anna Lea Merritt's masterpiece "Love Locked Out" transports us to a realm where love knows no boundaries or limitations. This enchanting artwork evokes emotions that transcend time itself. In 1872, history was made as we witnessed the first colored Senators and Representatives take their seats in Congress during the 41st session – a significant milestone on America's path towards equality.
