Scott Gilbert, the esteemed British architect, left an indelible mark on the 19th century architectural landscape. From the intricately designed angels of the Hereford Screen at the International Exhibition of 1862, to the towering St. Mary Magdalene's Church tower in Taunton and the proposed town hall for Preston Guild Festival, his influence reached far and wide. His masterpiece, the new church of St. Giles in Camberwell, was consecrated in 1844, while his designs graced the new church at Swindon on the Great Western Railway in 1845. His legacy continued with the monumental brass to the late Robert Stephenson in Westminster Abbey and the grand Albert Memorial.
