The statue, originating from Sri Lanka, is carved from copper alloy and stands at approximately 12 centimeters tall. Avalokiteshvara is shown in a graceful posture, with one hand in the vitarka mudra, symbolizing teaching and the other in the varada mudra, representing granting boons. His serene expression and gesturing hands convey a sense of deep compassion and wisdom. The intricate details of his clothing and ornaments, as well as the delicate facial features, demonstrate the exceptional craftsmanship of the unknown artist. This statue is a precious addition to the rich artistic heritage of South Asian Buddhism and serves as a reminder of the enduring influence of Buddhist traditions in the region and beyond.
