Daggers worn by Colonel Blood and Parrot at the time of their stealing the Regalia from the Tower [of London], 1860. The beautiful chased and inlaid weapons, which are in the possession of the Literary Fund Society, were those taken from Blood and Parrot on the occasion of their stealing the regalia. The handles are of a peculiar dark-red wood, and the sheaths of embossed leather. Blood's dagger (the larger one) is engraved with a griffin-like figure, and is dated 1620; Parrot's is engraved plainly on both sides with the fleur-de-lis'. From "Illustrated London News", 1860

This image, sourced from the archives of the Literary Fund Society and published in the Illustrated London News in 1860, depicts the intricately designed daggers carried by the notorious English thieves Colonel Thomas Blood and his accomplice Robert Parrot during their daring attempt to steal the Regalia from the Tower of London. The exquisite chased and inlaid weapons, now in the possession of the Literary Fund Society, were seized from Blood and Parrot following their apprehension. The handles of the daggers are crafted from a rich, dark-red wood, while their sheaths are adorned with embossed leather. Blood's larger dagger, showcased on the left, boasts an engraving of a griffin-like figure and bears the date 1620. Parrot's smaller dagger, on the right, is embellished with the fleur-de-lis motif on both sides. These weapons, a testament to the meticulous craftsmanship of their time, offer a glimpse into the intrigue and lawlessness of 19th century Britain. The image serves as a reminder of the audacious crime and the skillful tools used by the perpetrators, adding to the allure of the annals of history.
