The following bulletin, signed by the medical attendants, announced the death of his Royal Highness: "Cambridge-house, [London], July 8, 1850, ten o'clock P.M. His Royal Highness the Duke of Cambridge, after passing a tranquil day, expired somewhat suddenly, and without suffering, at twenty minutes before ten o'clock"...His private character was ever unexceptionable...His manners were affable and pleasing, no person, perhaps, possessing more completely that characteristic which the French term "bonhommie". He was a thorough English prince in habits, disposition, and bearing, and he seemed at all times at home with the English people, and they with him.
