The Swiss Centre was designed by David Aberdeen and was built by John Laing & Son Ltd. It had shops at street level with a market area and restaurants in the podium known as Swiss Fair and an eleven storey building above including offices and residential units. The building was demolished in 2008

This print captures the interior of The Taverne at the Swiss Centre, located in Coventry Street, Leicester Square, City of Westminster, Greater London. Designed by David Aberdeen and constructed by John Laing & Son Ltd. , this iconic building was a hub of activity during its heyday in the 1960s. The Swiss Centre boasted an impressive structure with shops on street level, a bustling market area called Swiss Fair, and an eleven-storey building above that housed offices and residential units. It was truly a multifunctional space that catered to various needs. Sadly, as time passed, the once vibrant Swiss Centre met its fate and was demolished in 2008. However, this print allows us to reminisce about the lively atmosphere that once filled these walls. Stepping into The Taverne through this image feels like taking a journey back in time.
