Great print of Richard Wright McCombe, a beloved figure in the annals of Bristol City Football Club history. McCombe, born on July 27,1953, in Bristol, England, spent the majority of his playing career with the Robins, making a total of 432 appearances between 1971 and 1988. McCombe started his career as a trainee with Bristol City, making his professional debut in 1971 against Swansea City. Over the next 17 years, he would become a mainstay in the team, leading them to several memorable victories and helping to establish a strong defensive unit. McCombe's tenacity and determination on the pitch were a source of inspiration for his teammates and fans alike. One of McCombe's most notable moments in a Bristol City shirt came in the 1976 FA Cup Final against Manchester City. With the score tied 2-2 after extra time, McCombe scored the winning penalty kick in the shootout, securing the club's first major trophy in over 100 years. The goal is still fondly remembered by fans and is a testament to McCombe's bravery and skill under pressure. After retiring from professional football, McCombe continued to be involved with the game, serving as a coach and scout for various clubs. He also made occasional appearances at Ashton Gate, the home of Bristol City, where he was always welcomed with open arms by fans who cherished his contributions to the team.
