EDITORS COMMENTS
Great print capturing the raw power and determination of Coventry City legend, Cyrille Regis, in action during the 1988 football season. Regis, a towering figure in English football history, joined Coventry City in 1984 from WBA and quickly became a fan favorite with his electrifying performances on the pitch. In this image, Regis is seen charging forward with the ball, his powerful build and focused expression a testament to his unyielding determination and athleticism. The photo was taken during a particularly successful period for Coventry City, who were challenging for a place in the top tier of English football at the time. Regis' impact on the team was significant, as he helped lead Coventry City to their most successful period in their history. During his time at the club, they reached the FA Cup Final in 1987 and finished as runners-up in the First Division in 1986 and 1987. Regis' goalscoring ability was a major factor in these achievements, as he netted 73 goals in just 152 appearances for the Sky Blues. Born in French Guiana in 1958, Regis came to England as a teenager and rose through the ranks of non-league football before making his professional debut with West Bromwich Albion in 1977. He went on to enjoy a successful career with a number of clubs, including Coventry City, Aston Villa, and Wycombe Wanderers, before retiring in 1996. Regis' influence extended beyond the pitch, as he was a trailblazer for black players in English football and helped break down racial barriers in the game. His legacy continues to be celebrated by Coventry City fans and football enthusiasts alike, making this print a valuable addition to any collection of football memorabilia.
