The North Atlantic Telegraph - The Expedition arriving at Kaksimiut, Greenland, 1860. Kaksimiut is situated on the west coast of Greenland, about forty miles north of Julianshaab. It was at this place that Colonel Shaffner anchored his vessel, and there, in the Esquimaux unriaks, examined the bays or fiords. This place is near the open sea, and has about fifty inhabitants. It is a depot for the Greenland Company. When the vessel entered from the sea, it was accompanied by many of the Esquimaux in their unriaks (women's boat) and kiajaks'.
