In this historic photograph, taken on 1 March 1950, we find Major Frank Halford, Lord and Lady Trenchard, and Sir Geoffrey de Havilland gathered in front of the first prototype of the de Havilland Comet jet airliner. This momentous occasion marked Lady Trenchard's achievement of becoming the first lady to fly in the Comet.
