Visit to Fowey by Prime Minister, Cornwall. June 1990

Visiting Fowey in June 1990, Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher met some of the RNLI crew and went for a trip around Fowey harbour in the lifeboat. She watched a mock rescue, from the lifeboat to the RNAS Culdrose helicopter, from the shore at Albert Quay. The lifeboat used was Faithful Forrester, on loan to Fowey from Dover. After decommissioning in 1997 she was sold to Australia. Photographer: Jonathan Barker
