Georgiana, Duchess of Devonshire
Georgiana, Duchess of Devonshire, and her child. Georgiana Cavendish (1757-1806), born Georgiana Spencer, was the first wife of the 5th Duke of Devonshire and a celebrated socialite of her day. She is shown here with her first child, Georgiana Dorothy Cavendish (1783-1858), later the Duchess of Carlisle. Before this child, there had been numerous miscarriages.
