The participants in this unique competition are none other than the renowned Wild West performer Samuel Cody on horseback and the French cycling champion, Meyer of Dieppe, on a bicycle. Samuel Cody, a British-born sharpshooter and famous cowboy, had made a name for himself in Europe with his Wild West shows. In an attempt to attract larger crowds and generate excitement, Cody engaged in a daring race against the French cycling champion. The event, organized by Emile Levy & Cie, was published in Paris and measures an impressive 50 inches by 37 inches. The poster's design is a visual feast, with Cody wearing his signature cowboy hat and holding a horseshoe, while Meyer, dressed in cycling attire, pedals determinedly.
