Our junior officer captain, ever mindful of the comfort of his passengers, had chairs and tables set out under the shade of a towering Ginko tree. The children, having been entertained by the boys playing nearby, wandered off to watch as they skillfully played drums, cymbals, flutes, bells, and a battered big bamboo, beaten with sticks.
