A grandfather will immortalise each of his seven grandchildren - in the wood of billiard

A grandfather will immortalise each of his seven grandchildren - in the wood of billiard table legs. Mr. William Arnold Snell of Newlyn, Cornwall, bought an old billiard table for the slate and found himself with the eight massive solid mahoganey legs on his hands. For 5 weeks, he worked on one of the legs, producing a chiselled memory potrait of his pretty 11 year old grand- daughter, Denise Bennet of Penzance. October 1952 P013250

EDITORS COMMENTS
In this photo print, we witness the incredible craftsmanship and love of a grandfather towards his seven grandchildren. Mr. William Arnold Snell, residing in Newlyn, Cornwall, stumbled upon an old billiard table with eight magnificent solid mahogany legs. Little did he know that these legs would become the canvas for his artistic endeavor. For five weeks straight, Mr. Snell dedicated himself to meticulously carving one of the legs into a stunning memory portrait of his 11-year-old granddaughter, Denise Bennet from Penzance. The intricate details etched into the wood bring out her youthful charm and innocence. This photograph captures not only Mr. Snell's talent as a sculptor but also his deep affection for each grandchild. By immortalizing them within the very essence of this billiard table leg, he ensures their presence will forever be felt within their family home. The year is 1952 when this heartwarming moment was frozen in time by Mirrorpix's lens. It serves as a reminder that true artistry knows no bounds and can transform even unexpected objects into cherished heirlooms.
