Arnold is one of only 12 double England cricket and football internationals. He made his only test match appearance at Lords in 1931 against New Zealand, and played his only England football international against Scotland in 1933. He helped Fulham reach the FA Cup semi-final in 1936. He became a first class umpire in 1961
