The ceremony was held with the British Ambassador at Constantinople, Stratford Canning, First Viscount Stratford de Redcliffe (1786-1880), presiding. Rear-Admiral Sir Edmund Lyons (who prided himself on his resemblance to Nelson) is first in line to be invested a Knight Grand Cross of the Order of the Bath, followed by Major-General Sir Colin Campbell.
