EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases the magnificent Chateau Amboise, a historical gem that held great strategic importance during the Middle Ages. Perched atop a hill, it commanded an impressive view over one of the few bridges spanning the Loire River. Originally seized from the Counts of Anjou by Charles VII in 1434, this castle played a pivotal role in French history. The present-day chateau, dating back to the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries, stands as an architectural masterpiece and represents one of the first royal Renaissance buildings in France's enchanting Loire Valley. Its grandeur is further heightened by its association with Leonardo da Vinci, who spent his final years here before passing away within its walls. Today, visitors can pay homage to this genius at his tomb located inside. Captured by Hulton Archive/Getty Images, this print beautifully captures Chateau Amboise against a backdrop of lush landscapes and winding roads. The image transports viewers to Europe's charming heartland where history seamlessly blends with natural beauty
