Sired by the esteemed stallion Boston and out of the mare Alice Carneal, Celebrated Lexington was bred by the renowned Dr. Warfield and owned by the distinguished gentleman, R. Ten Broeck, esq. In the spring of 1855, Celebrated Lexington made history by winning the highly anticipated 4-mile match race against LeComptes, with a remarkable time of 7:193/4, besting LeComptes previous record of 7:26 over the Metairie course in New Orleans. The excitement of the race was palpable, with the entire city coming out to witness this thrilling competition. The success of Celebrated Lexington solidified his place in racing history, making him a celebrated figure in the equestrian world.
