This evocative photograph captures the moment of the Holy Carpet's return journey from Mecca to Cairo in 1912. The Holy Carpet, a significant relic in Islamic history, is one of the most revered objects in the Islamic world. Every year, millions of Muslims embark on the Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca, Saudi Arabia, to perform various religious rituals, including circling the Kaaba seven times. The Holy Carpet is used to cover the Kaaba during this period. After the pilgrimage season is over, the Holy Carpet is carefully transported back to its permanent home in the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Cairo, Egypt.
