EDITORS COMMENTS
This image, titled "Fancy Dress" and created by the talented artist M. Banuval during the 1920s, showcases a group of children in their most imaginative and whimsical attire. The front cover of what appears to be a promotional material for a children's fancy dress event or party, invites us to step into a world of make-believe and enchantment. The children, dressed in a variety of elaborate and intricately designed costumes, exude excitement and joy as they gather together, each one more fascinating than the next. The little girl in the front row, dressed as a queen, holds a regal scepter and wears a magnificent crown adorned with pearls and crystals. The boy next to her, dressed as a knight, brandishes a sword and shield, ready for adventure. To the right, a group of children dressed as animals - a lion, a tiger, and an elephant - add a playful and lively energy to the scene. The children in the back row, dressed as clowns, pirates, and a cowboy, complete the carnival-like atmosphere. The muted colors and soft focus of the photograph add to the dreamlike quality of the image, transporting us back in time to a simpler era where the power of imagination and the joy of dressing up could bring hours of delight and wonder. This beautiful work of art by M. Banuval is a testament to the enduring magic of fancy dress and the boundless creativity of children.
