EDITORS COMMENTS
In this enchanting photograph, the former Daphne Vivian, later known as Viscountess Weymouth, cradles her newborn baby son, Alexander George Thynne, in the hallowed halls of St. Martin-in-the-Fields church in central London. The year was 1932, and the occasion was the christening of the future 7th Marquess of Bath. Daphne, dressed elegantly in a long, flowing gown, gazes down at her precious infant with a look of deep affection and pride. Her husband, the 6th Marquess of Bath, stands proudly behind her, his hand resting gently on her shoulder. Alexander, swathed in a pristine white christening gown, lies peacefully in his mother's arms, his eyes closed in slumber. The intricate details of the church's architecture can be seen in the background, adding a sense of grandeur and history to the scene. This poignant moment captures the joy and wonder of new parenthood, as well as the deep-rooted traditions and heritage of the Marquessate of Bath. The christening marked the beginning of Alexander's journey as the heir to one of England's most ancient and distinguished titles, a journey that would be filled with both challenges and triumphs. This photograph is a beautiful reminder of the enduring bond between a mother and her child, as well as the rich tapestry of history and tradition that surrounds the noble families of the British Isles.
