The Field of the Cloth of Gold, a famous meeting between King Henry VIII of England and King Francis I of France in 1520, is recreated before our eyes. Henry VIII, resplendent in his royal finery, stands proudly on horseback, while King Francis, dressed in the regalia of the First French Monarchy, rides alongside him. Surrounding them are the magnificent displays of the British and French armies, with pikemen marching in formation and horseback riders executing daring maneuvers. The Aldershot Military Tattoo was a celebration of military tradition and history, and during the 1930s, the event was marked by the use of flame torches to illuminate the performances, adding an air of mystery and excitement.
