The Keystone XB-1 was evaluated at Wright Field as P-480, but written off on 21 January 1928 at Fairfield Air Depot, Ohio, due to an engine fire. During repair it was converted to the sole XB-1B on 24 October 1928, but surveyed on 14 September 1929. Date: 1929

This photograph shows the Keystone XB-1B 27-334, parked without its engines, on 26 July 1929. The Keystone XB-1 was initially evaluated at Wright Field under the designation P-480, but its tenure there was cut short when an engine fire occurred at Fairfield Air Depot, Ohio, on 21 January 1928. During the subsequent repairs, the aircraft was converted into the sole XB-1B on 24 October 1928. However, even in its altered form, the XB-1B underwent further assessment on 14 September 1929. The Keystone XB-1B, with its distinctive design and intriguing history, stands as a testament to the early days of aviation innovation. Despite the setbacks, the aircraft continued to contribute to the advancement of aviation technology, showcasing the resilience and determination of the aeronautical industry during this era.
